School Holiday Workshops

Location: Avalon Creative Space, 32 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon Beach NSW 2107
Workshop Overview:
The "Under the Sea" workshop is designed to introduce young artists to the vibrant world of watercolour painting, while exploring the beauty of and colour of the underwater world. Students will have fun engaging with creative activities and guided instruction of watercolour techniques with local artist and teacher Amber Oswald, before creating a series of their very own artworks.
About the Artist/Teacher
Amber is a local Northern Beaches artist and teacher. She has created and taught workshops at the National Art School in Darlinghurst, school holiday workshops with Northern Beaches Council and teaches a variety of painting workshops in collaboration with Salt & Lime Experiences. She is a registered NSW Department of Education teacher and has over 12 years experience teaching in both primary and high schools.
Workshop Highlights:
Small class of a maximum of 12 students
Guided instruction of watercolour techniques, brushstrokes, colour mixing and water control
Learning to “see” shapes, colours and patterns
Showcase of examples of watercolour artworks featuring plants and animals
Encouragement of sharing ideas and artworks through group discussions
Artwork showcase
Materials provided:
Watercolour paints and brushes
Watercolour paper
Inspiration and examples
Note to parents/guardians:
Ensure children wear suitable clothing for potential paint splatters (or an apron if you wish) and enclosed shoes
Please pack a small snack and water

Time: 10.00am - 3.00pm
Ages: Teens (12 - 16 Years)
Location: Avalon Creative Space, 32 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon Beach NSW 2107
Workshop Overview:
Artist & teacher Amber Oswald will guide teens through fundamental watercolour painting techniques to expand their skills and take their paintings to another level. This workshop will focus on capturing detail in underwater animals and explore coastlines from above to create aerial watercolour artworks.
Along with key watercolour techniques, students will shown tips for developing their observation skills in drawing from life, and learn how to capture details, tone and texture when painting with watercolour.
