Workshop: 5 - 8 Years - Furry Friends Watercolour Workshop
Date: Monday, 13th July, 2026
Time: 9.00am - 12.00pm
Ages: 5-8 years
Location: Avalon Creative Space, 32 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon Beach NSW 2107
Workshop Overview:
In the ‘Furry Friends’ Watercolour Workshop, children will learn how to paint their favourite pets or furry animals using watercolour. Through guided demonstrations, playful experimentation, and step-by-step activities, students will explore how to observe shapes, colours, and textures while developing confidence with watercolour techniques.
Workshop Highlights:
Small class, with a maximum of 10 students
Guided instruction of watercolour techniques, brushstrokes, colour mixing and water control
Learning to “see” shapes, colours and patterns
Learn techniques for creating realistic fur, feathers and other textures.
Encouragement of sharing ideas and artworks through group discussions
Artwork showcase
Materials provided:
Watercolour paints and brushes
Watercolour paper
Inspiration and examples
Note to parents/guardians:
This workshop is designed for school-aged children. If you’re unsure if it is suitable for you child, please don’t hesitate to contact prior to booking.
Ensure children wear suitable clothing for potential paint splatters (or an apron if you wish) and enclosed shoes
Please pack a small snack and water

About the Artist/Teacher
Amber is a local Northern Beaches artist and teacher. She has created and taught workshops at the National Art School in Darlinghurst, school holiday workshops with Northern Beaches Council and teaches a variety of painting workshops in collaboration with Salt & Lime Experiences. She is a registered NSW Department of Education teacher and has over 13 years experience teaching in both primary and high schools.
*Please note, workshops need a minimum of 6 tickets sold to run. Full refunds will be given if cancellation occurs due to low numbers.
